Van de Ven Double Halts Everton's Run at Brand New Stadium

The Tottenham defender scored twice as Tottenham extended their winning streak on the road in the Premier League and handed the Toffees their initial loss at their new home.

The Toffees were undefeated in their five previous fixtures at their new ground at the dockside location, having left their historic home behind after 133 years at the end of last season.

This victory elevates the manager's team into third place in the division, a handful of points off local foes and table-toppers the Gunners.

The Merseyside club stay 14th and are six points clear of the drop zone.

Tottenham analysis: The defender fulfils duties at each end of the field

Following a uninspiring weekday display in the European competition against the French side, where they managed a only two shots on goal, Frank opted for the French striker in attack instead of former Toffees player the Brazilian.

The new arrival was unable to influence the game before being substituted for Richarlison after 60 minutes on the pitch, but it turns out he wasn't needed in the final outcome.

Centre-back the Dutchman transformed into an attacking force to be reckoned with.

Toffees breakdown: Toffees lacking finishing touch

Everton's recent stadium had been a happy hunting ground, but it appears the novelty may have worn off somewhat and supporters flocked to the gates after the midfielder's final goal for Spurs.

The break in the team's winning streak at home will not be a massive worry for David Moyes, but their striker situation are.

The forward and Thierno Barry - the Toffees' pair of established strikers - had scored just a single goal combined before Sunday's outing.

And they were unable to contribute to that miserable tally on a damp and dreary night on in Liverpool.

Beto's form was summed up when he chose to bicycle-kick a clear chance from near the goal, despite having space and opportunity to readjust for a more conventional attempt that would have tested the keeper.

Barry, too, failed to make an impact after coming on for the starter in the second half.

It was not for a shortage of chance. Most of the home side's attacks came through the winger and Ndiaye, who tirelessly delivered threatening balls into the Spurs penalty area.
